Enameled Aluminum Wire is a Main Variety of Winding Wire

Enameled aluminum wire is a main variety of winding wire and it consists of conductor and insulating layer. The bare wire is annealed and softened, then it is coated with an insulating enamel varnish. The result is an insulating coating with good high temperature resistance, mechanical properties and chemical resistance. It also has excellent freeze resistance and is suitable for long-term work in 200 deg C refrigeration equipment, dry-type power transformers, electric instrumentation, electrical tools etc.

The enamelled aluminum wire is easy to winding and has a solid oxide film insulating surface which means it can withstand long-term high temperature, mechanical stress and corrosion. The aluminium enamel coating is a very durable material and has a very wide range of applications in industry. The wire is mainly used in electromagnetic coils. This type of winding wire is a common solution for interchanging electrical energy with magnetic energy in electrical equipment, appliances and machinery.

We use copper or aluminum as the conductor material for the enamelled aluminum wire. The conductor material can be plated with silver or nickel for better conductivity. The outer enamel is made of a high quality alumina with a thickness of 1.0-1.5mm. The core conductors can be either copper or Copper Clad Aluminium (CCA). CCA is a new electromagnetic wire that takes advantage of the characteristics of both copper and aluminum. It has the excellent conductivity of copper and the light weight of aluminium, so it can help reduce the product’s total weight and save cost.

In the process of preparing enamelled wire, it is important to pay attention to the diameter of the bare conductor and to its tolerances. The diameter of the bare conductor has a direct impact on the variation of the final coil resistance. In order to avoid this type of problem, it is essential to measure the bare wire tolerances very accurately and to ensure that they are within the permissible limits.
